Childhood Trauma,
Attachment and EMDR
Therapy available in person in Sunnyvale and virtually across California.
Some things we carry with us.
Maybe things are more stable today, but one sharp tone, someone pulling away, or the feeling that you disappointed someone can still hit much harder than you expect.
You may know logically that you are safe or not in trouble, but you still feel tense, get upset more easily, have nightmares, shut down, overexplain, or find yourself trying to make everything okay again.
Sometimes you can trace it back to growing up, and sometimes you just know you are tired of having old feelings show up in relationships that matter to you now.
You’ve probably spent a long time trying to understand it. Now you want it to stop so you can feel present in your life today.
What if the past didn’t feel so close anymore?
The things that used to hit you hard don’t take over in the same way.
Someone sounds annoyed, your partner needs space, or your boss gives feedback, and you can pause before immediately assuming you did something wrong.
You can have a hard conversation without overexplaining, let someone be disappointed without rushing to fix it, and say what you really mean without your whole body going into panic mode.
A text can go unanswered. A family member can disagree with you without it automatically feeling like rejection. You can be close to people without feeling responsible for keeping everyone happy.
The past still matters, but it does not have to keep deciding how you feel in every moment now.
You can feel more steady in yourself, more present in your relationships, and more able to respond from who you are today instead of from an old hurt.
Why Nurture & Connect Therapy Center?
Our approach draws on the brain’s natural capacity to heal, the body’s innate wisdom and resilience, the power of emotions and connection, and the restorative resources found in everyday life.
I know trauma work can feel vulnerable, so I care a lot about helping you feel safe, supported, and never rushed into going somewhere you are not ready to go.
I’m trained in EMDR and somatic-attachment focused work, and I pay close attention to how you’re doing throughout the process. We can slow down, pause, or change direction whenever you need to.
We’ll make room for what you’ve been carrying, while also looking at how those experiences are showing up in your life now, in your relationships, reactions, confidence, or the way you see yourself.
